SUMMARY:LGBTQ+ Health in Korea: Digital Simulation and Tailored Interventions to Address Unmet Needs
DESCRIPTION:« All Events\n 				\n				\n				\n				\n					\n		\n			February 5\n\n	\n\n	 @ \n\n\n12:00 pm\n\n		\n\n\n\n	\n	 - \n\n1:30 pm\n\n\n\n	\n				\n				\n				\n				\n									\n					\n						\n									Register for Event\n					\n					\n				\n								\n				\n				\n						\n					\n			\n						\n				\n									Join Penn Nursing’s Eidos LGBTQ+ Health Initiative\, Center for Global Women’s Health (CGWH) and office of Global Health Affairs (GHA) for a special Global Bites Seminar featuring Dr. Sook Jung Kang\, Professor at the College of Nursing\, Ewha Womans University in Korea.   In this talk\, Dr. Kang will share key outcomes from a three-year National Research Foundation of Korea–funded project\, “Development and evaluation of a web-based nursing simulation for LGBT patients with unmet needs\,” highlighting the simulation’s development process\, core design features\, feasibility\, and evaluation results. Dr. Kang will also present early findings from her current study\, “Development of a tailored healthcare intervention program based on age-specific health issues and unmet needs among adult LGBTQ individuals\,” and discuss implications for nursing education and the development of practical\, adaptable strategies that can be implemented across diverse clinical and educational settings to reduce unmet needs. Dr. Sook Jung Kang is a full professor at the College of Nursing\, Ewha Womans University in Korea. She earned both her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and has clinical experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in the United States. Her research\, supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea\, spans diverse areas including the development of interventions to enhance cognitive function in breast cancer survivors\, web-based simulations for novice nurses\, and educational simulations promoting LGBT-inclusive care. She has also conducted policy research on the nurse practitioner system in Korea.
