DESCRIPTION:« All Events\n 				\n				\n				\n				\n					\n		\n			February 4\n\n	\n\n	 @ \n\n\n12:00 pm\n\n		\n\n\n\n	\n	 - \n\n1:00 pm\n\n\n\n	\n				\n				\n				\n				\n									\n					\n						\n									Register for Event\n					\n					\n				\n								\n				\n				\n						\n					\n			\n						\n				\n									In this virtual talk\, Dr. Sook Jung Kang will focus on the Korean context\, examining how healthcare AI may reproduce or mitigate health inequities and arguing that diversity\, equity\, and inclusion (DEI) governance and systematic use of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) indicators must be integrated throughout the AI lifecycle. The talk will outline a practice-oriented framework for “care equity” in healthcare AI that: (1) places DEI at the center of data stewardship and model governance\, (2) treats robust SOGI data as an equity-critical indicator rather than an optional demographic field\, and (3) specifies the roles of clinicians\, educators\, and health systems in advancing person-centered\, AI-enabled care for LGBTQ+ communities and other structurally excluded groups in Korea. Dr. Sook Jung Kang is a full professor at the College of Nursing\, Ewha Womans University in Korea. She earned both her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and has clinical experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in the United States. Her research\, supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea\, spans diverse areas including the development of interventions to enhance cognitive function in breast cancer survivors\, web-based simulations for novice nurses\, and educational simulations promoting LGBT-inclusive care. She has also conducted policy research on the nurse practitioner system in Korea.
