Connecting Conversations: LGBTQ+ Youth and the Power of Belonging

October 24, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

In 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General issued an advisory declaring loneliness and isolation an epidemic, linking it to serious health risks, including heart disease, stroke, dementia, and premature death. While LGBTQ+ communities face higher isolation rates, they have also pioneered solutions like found families, intergenerational spaces, and community networks.

Join the Eidos LGBTQ+ Health Initiative for a virtual panel on fostering belonging for LGBTQ+ youth with moderator Jessica Halem and experts in research, design, and community organizing.

October 24, 12pm EST. Zoom Webinar.

Panelists:

Desmond Upton Patton, PhD, MSW, studies the impact social media has on well-being, mental health, trauma, violence and grief for youth and adults of color.

Joshua Lavra is a creative lead at Hopelab, creating science-backed mental health and wellbeing tools with LGBTQ+ and BIPoC communities.

Jasper Liem, LCSW, is the Executive Director of the Attic, a Philly youth center offering a wide range of programs and services designed to provide LGBTQ+ youth with the support and skills needed to transition into independent, thriving adults.
